Bryant ductwork repair in Houston typically runs $300 – $950 installed, and we stock Bryant-compatible duct sections, collars, plenum fittings, and sealants on our trucks for same-day work in most cases. Most Houston homeowners discover the problem the same way: one room won’t cool while another feels like a walk-in freezer, or the electric bill climbs 20% without a change in thermostat habits. The ductwork is the circulatory system of your Bryant system, and when it leaks, tears, or collapses, the efficiency loss happens quietly for months before you feel it as a comfort problem.
We service Bryant equipment alongside Carrier, Trane, and Lennox, and we keep our Houston warehouse stocked for the common Bryant duct configurations so you’re not waiting on a special order for basic repairs. If you’re noticing airflow problems, you can reach us at (346) 201-5395 for a written estimate before any work begins.
Which Bryant Models This Applies To
Ductwork is not model-specific the way a control board or blower motor is, but Bryant systems have sizing and static-pressure characteristics that matter when we repair or replace duct sections. Bryant’s Legacy, Preferred, and Evolution series air handlers and furnaces are engineered for specific airflow ranges, typically 350 – 450 CFM per ton in Houston’s humidity. If a previous contractor patched a duct with the wrong diameter or used flex duct where rigid was specified, the system works harder and the duct fails sooner.
The real compatibility question is not the Bryant model number on the cabinet. It’s the duct dimensions, the material type, and the connection fittings. We measure before we quote. Flex duct in Houston homes is usually R-6 or R-8 insulated; if yours is uninsulated or has torn insulation, that’s a condensation and mold risk in our climate, not just an efficiency loss. We always check the R-value when we assess a duct repair.
One Houston-specific note: homes built in the 1970s and 1980s in Sharpstown, Meyerland, and Spring Branch often have metal trunk lines with fiberglass duct board branches. The duct board absorbs moisture over decades of Gulf Coast humidity, and we regularly replace those sections with R-8 flex or rigid metal with mastic-sealed joints. Bryant equipment runs fine on either, but the sealing matters more than the brand.
If you’re unsure what you have, a photo of the duct label or the damaged section sent to us during a phone call gets you a rough idea before we even roll a truck. Tell me what the house is doing, and we’ll figure out what it actually needs.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Bryant Ductwork Repair Is Failing
- One room never reaches the thermostat setting. A disconnected or crushed duct branch means that room gets whatever air bleeds through the attic, not what the Bryant air handler is pushing. We trace the branch from the plenum to the register and find the break or kink fast.
- Dust accumulating faster than normal, or a musty smell when the AC runs. Torn return ductwork pulls attic air, insulation fibers, and Houston’s humid outdoor air into the system. That means more dust on furniture and, in a lot of homes we see, a smell that gets worse during summer’s high dew points.
- Hissing or whistling near the indoor unit or in walls. Air escaping through a small gap makes noise, and the pitch changes with the blower speed. A properly sealed duct system is nearly silent.
- Energy bill up 20% or more year-over-year with no change in usage. Leaky ducts can waste 20 – 30% of conditioned air before it reaches the rooms. In Houston, where AC runs from March through October, that adds up quickly on the kilowatt-hour side.
- Condensation or water stains on ceilings below duct runs. This is the one to address quickly. When warm attic air meets cold duct surfaces through a tear, it condenses and drips. That water finds drywall, and drywall loss is far more expensive than duct repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Houston, Bryant ductwork repair pricing falls into clear bands depending on what’s actually wrong:
- Small tear or joint separation repair: $300 – $450. Includes mastic sealing, new hangers if needed, and a pressure-balance check at the affected register.
- Replace a damaged flex duct run (up to 15 feet): $450 – $650. Includes R-8 insulated flex, new collars, proper support straps, and mastic at all connections.
- Replace or repair a plenum or trunk line section: $650 – $950. This is the big one. Metal fabrication, insulation, and resealing the entire connection point take real time.
- Full duct re-seal with Aeroseal or manual mastic treatment (whole house): $950 – $2,400 depending on home size. We quote this only after a full inspection and blower-door test.
Every quote includes the part, the labor, the mastic and hangers, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. You get a written price before any work starts, no exceptions. If a duct repair fails or leaks again within a year, we come back and fix it. No charge, no argument.
We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Bryant, which means we recommend the fix that’s right for the house, not the fix that protects a brand relationship.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Remove a register cover and look inside with a flashlight. If you see a collapsed flex duct, a visible gap where the duct meets the register box, or dust streaks on the ceiling around a register, you’ve found the problem. You can also walk the attic if it’s floored and look for obvious tears or disconnected sections (turn off the system first, and watch your step around the insulation).
What you should not do is climb into a hot Houston attic in July to reseal ductwork yourself. Attic temperatures here exceed 140°F in summer, and heat exhaustion sets in fast. Working with sheet metal edges, applying mastic in tight spaces, and supporting duct runs without damaging the vapor barrier are skilled tasks. We see homeowner duct repairs that fail within weeks because the tape came apart or a strap pulled loose. Mastic and proper support is what makes a repair last. That’s what we bring to every job, along with shoe covers, drop cloths, and a photo of the clean-up before we leave.
If you’re on the fence, call (346) 201-5395 and describe what you’re seeing. Luis Serrano or one of our techs will give you a straight read on whether it’s worth a service call.
FAQs
Properly installed flex duct lasts 15 – 20 years in Houston’s climate; poorly installed or uninsulated duct can fail in under 10 years due to attic heat, humidity, and thermal expansion cycles. Metal trunk lines last longer, but the sealing at joints degrades and should be checked every 5 – 7 years. If your home is older than 15 years and you’ve never had the ducts inspected, call (346) 201-5395 and we’ll take a look.
Most damage is repairable. Tears, separated joints, crushed sections, and leaking plenums can all be fixed without replacing the entire duct system. Full replacement only makes sense when the majority of the ductwork is undersized, contaminated with mold, or so degraded that repairs would cost more than new ducts. We show you the damage before any repair and explain why a patch will hold or won’t.
A typical single-run duct repair takes 1 – 2 hours from start to clean-up. A plenum or trunk line replacement can take 3 – 5 hours. Most jobs are done the same day we arrive, and we include the clean-up photo before we leave so you can see how the house was left.
Yes. Our trucks carry R-6 and R-8 flex duct in common diameters, metal collars, mastic, foil tape, and support strapping on every call. For less common sizes or specific metal fittings, we fabricate or order them locally in Houston, usually within one business day.
